I've recently come across a safari issue... on random machines through out the district(i work for) we have machines (13" macbooks/white) that have their safari just out of the blue stop working... at first the app will load but not load any web pages no matter what you do... then the app will not work at all... (as in will not load... you open the app and it stops... no error messages, nothing...) anyways we cast "our" district stander image on every machine that comes through our office and do a quick machine check...(boots, logins, ect.) anyways i was just wondering if their is some kind of a bug in safari 3(we run OSX 10.5.5... until the end of this school year... late may.) the only way we have found to fix this is by reimaging the machine...(which come with alot more work... backing up data, rebinding the machine, restoring data...ect.) keep in mind that since we do bind our machines and our image has permissions for different groups that just "reinstalling" the app is equally as difficult. lastly im just looking for a temp fix (if their is one) for next school year im going to have safari4 put into our image...

Trashing prefs and emptying caches doesn't help? You don't have any add-ons for Safari, do you?
Are there no clues in the logs for what might be causing this? Also, the most recent OS version is 10.5.6. Perhaps your image should include that. |
