Unhappy Printing from OpenOffice

Does anyone know how to get OpenOffice to print. The Print Centre sees my OSX printer setup - but when I click on "ok" to print - nothing happens ????

Gheto Fabulous,

First, you need to verify several things in order to print in OpenOffice. Please follow the instructions in the thread "Printing w/ OOo Final Beta in 10.2.x" at the "OpenOffice.org MacOS X Testing forum":

What worked for me was to switch my printer (Samsung ML-1210) driver from the manufacturers drivers to Gimp-Print driver. My Epson Photo EX only works with Gimp-Print in OS X and it printed from OpenOffice no problem.

If you want to use the drivers you have currently working on your printer, without installing the gimp-print drivers, you can grab the filter made by Eric Dahlman. His filter uses ps2pdf from Ghostscript and the configuration file to tell the printing system how to use it.

Once the filter is installed then you can send Postscript to lpr and print your files.

For instructions and to download the filter:

Check the "X11-Frequently Asked Questions" at the top of the page in this forum, "66- Howto: Seamless Postscript printing"

Why can't I print from OpenOffice?

Why the heck can't I print from open office? I installed hplip for my hp 3210 photosmart printer and got everything working alright. It can scan and print web pages but it can't print .odt files. What's up with that? This would be it's major funtion because I have a lot of damn papers to write and it's a pain in the *** having to show up late to class because I have to save my documents as .doc and burn them onto a cd and print them at school only after extensive reformatting because my papers tend to get about a half a page shorter when I convert my .odt files to .doc and open them with Microsoft Word. This is the most frustrating ordeal I've encountered thus far. It's rediculous. I found also when I hit the print button on OpenOffice my Printer is displayed and I can choose other options. There is a drop down box that shows document compatibility and .odt or .doc or .txt AREN'T ON THERE! What's up with this? Can someone please help me, PLEASE? I can't do this anymore. I appreciate your help in advance.
