Problem with 'apt-get update' & can't find /etc/apt/sources.list

Hi there, I hope someone can give me a pointer as to where I am going wrong. I can not find '/etc/apt/sources.list' and if I run '% apt-get update' it does not appear to work. Please see below:

This is my system:
% uname -a
Darwin Rosemary.mshome.net 7.9.0 Darwin Kernel Version 7.9.0: Wed Mar 30 20:11:17 PST 2005; root:xnu/xnu-517.12.7.obj~1/RELEASE_PPC Power Macintosh powerpc
The man file of 'apt-get' reads:
update is used to resynchronize the package index files from their sources. The indexes of available packages are fetched from the location(s) specified in /etc/apt/sources.list
I cannot find the sources.list file. Neither do I have the 'apt' directory either:
%:/etc root# cd apt
su: cd: apt: No such file or directory
Additionally, the out put of 'apt-get update' does not seem right at all:
Rosemary:/etc root# apt-get update

Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
QUESTION: Could anyone suggest what I have setup wrong here? My logic tells me that surely I should be able to find the sources.list ... and, that my update should just time out.

Thank-you in advance, Michelle

apt-get is not part of standard-install OS X - it comes with Fink.
All of the Fink stuff is (usually) under /sw

The apt-get manpage in fink was fixed a while ago to reflect the fink prefix. However, 10.3 has long been unsupported, so it's not surprising that the bug-fix was propagated back to 10.3, and it's a trivial fix, so if it were propagated back to 10.3, it would (ironically) only be in your manpage once you had updated your system (perhaps via apt-get).
