i'm trying to install OS X 10.4.10 on a powermac g4

i have a powermac g4 with an OS that needs to be upgraded to run Adobe CS3. i have the install discs for a powerbook g4 OS X 10.4.10, but either can't figure it out or it won't ever work and haven't been told that. Any input would be great.

You cannot use the Install discs from your PowerBook to install onto your Power Mac. You need either the original Software Restore discs that came with the Power Mac (which probably do not contain OS X 10.4.x Tiger anyway, so although they will install OS X, they probably will not install Tiger) or a Retail OS X 10.4.x Tiger Install DVD.

You can buy a Retail OS X 10.4.x Install DVD reasonably cheaply if you get it used, for example on ebay. Be sure to buy the black-colored Retail discs, NOT the gray-colored discs that are marked for a specific computer.
