How to download movie and play on TV?
I would like to download movies and play them on our TV via a DVD.
I am using http://my-movie-download.com/ I cannot make heads nor tails from their website as to what to do. I just don't get how to place a movie onto a DVD and play it on a TV. I can play the movies on my computer. Can you tell me what to do? Thanks in advance, Keith |

Something is fishy about that website. It links to "my-movie-downloads.com" which links to many known scam websites:
http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/my-...s.com/summary/ You could be possibly be paying for a service that allows you to download pirated movies. The company download the video from the pirate websites, and then sells them to you to make some quick $$$. However, it could be just a typo in one of the sites links. Anyway, you can use a program such as Burn.app to convert any QuickTime or ffmpeg-compatible file to a DVD. Be aware that it will probably take a while to convert.

Thank you very much. I don't know what to do. I presume I should stop going there. I tried writing a support ticket a couple of times and could get no response. Do you know any other movie download sites? I don't mean to put you in a position, so, if you prefer to not answer I will be OK with that. I thank you for the info. Blessings

If you're looking to pirate movies you're going to have to do that research on your own (as in it's illegal). If you're looking to download legit movies, then the iTunes Store is a good place to start. I believe Amazon also offers video downloads.

I would not ever look to pirate movies—please! If I were trying to do that, why would I come here to find out how. I resent your statement. I am looking to purchase movies. Keith

Keith, why would you resent a statement that began with "if"? The following statement also had an "if" that posed the possibility that you were looking to purchase legitimate movies. No offense intended and none should be taken.
I gave you two very viable options - did you look into the iTunes Store or Amazon? Last edited by wdympcf; 06-23-2008 at 04:27 PM. Reason: spelling attrocity |

Ok, everybody calm down! The OP was accidentally downloading pirated videos. There are many legit downloading sites available.
The topic of downloading copyrighted media is a bit controversial, as illegal downloaders seem to have much more freedom with the media than the people who legally purchase it! iTunes and Amazon are legit websites, and have many videos available, however, they are protected with DRM, so you can't burn them to a DVD. The only way to get those DRM protected files displayed on a TV is to hook up your Mac to the TV, or purchase something like an AppleTV and transfer your movies to there. But those ways would be cumbersome, or might not even be worth the cost. Does anybody know of legit download sites that don't bundle DRM with the media...?

As far as I know, no studio has signed an agreement to distribute digital copies of their works DRM free. Any sites that claim to offer legal downloads without DRM are 99.9% likely to be lying (I leave the 0.1% just in case a recent announcement escaped my notice).
Perfectly calm. |
