Mail & IMAP

Apparently, my host does not allow more than one IMAP connection at a time and Mail, bless its heart zoom through about 18 mailbox imap configured. It is not long before the "Take offline all account" symbol turn into gray and the individual accounts just churn their fan on and on without ever being able to connect.

Is there any way I can force Mail to connect to one imap mailbox at time. disconnect and move to the next? Just the way Cyberdog (remember?) use to check the mail?

Please don't tell me to change my host, i have signed a two-years contract...
