finder preferences

i posted a thread about the dock going back to it's default settings (http://forums.macosxhints.com/showth...&threadid=8551) but i forgot to mention that the finder also goes back to its default settings too. ie, the icon sizes and the arrangement of icons...

any ideas? corrupt finder pref?

com.apple.finder.plist

delete it just like the dock pref file.

I would definitely give that a try. For the dock note that you also have plist file in

/Library/Preferences

as well as in your

Home/Library/Preferences

You could also experiment with a test user. If it doesn't happen there, then there could be an issue with some other pref for your original user that is causing it...

There's also an invisible file named DS_Store in each folder that keeps track of the viewing preferences for the folder's window. I'm not sure what prefs the file tracks, but you can trash it, and when you open the window again, a fresh copy of the file will be created. It certainly wouldn't hurt to try trashing it to see if that helps with the problem you're having.
