Question Alternatives to Cisco VPN client?

I am looking to see if there is alternative software available for connecting to Cisco VPN device (ASA 5510). From what I understand Cisco uses IPSec for connectivity, but I am not sure whether they have their own particular flavour.

If it makes any difference the alternative would need to support group and user authentication.

The main reason for looking for an alternative is that from my experience the official client does not deal well with wake/sleep and changing of network adaptor availability.

Does anyone have anything to suggest?
