Can someone please explain the difference between backing up to a disk with a program such as Retrospect and using .Mac's Backup to iDisk feature? What are the pros & cons of using either method? Can you move your information from iDisk onto a removable disk, like a DVD, CD-RW, etc., or can the information only be accessed via the .Mac site??

The .mac thing is simply server space that you can access when you're logged onto it so backing up to another disk with Retrospect (or similar) is no different to backing up to your iDisk with Apple's backup programme - it's just that the latter integrates a little more cleanly with the OS. Personally, I don't really use it all that often as I find the transfer rates a little slow and I have a sufficient number of local backup options to not make it worthwhile. Effectively, when your iDisk is mounted you can treat it as you would any other hard drive.
