Can someone confirm this behavior.
I was adding some links from mp3's online to the iTunes comments field when I noticed that when I right clicked in Safari to copy the link, it didn't switch from iTunes (which was very convenient). This also worked in Mail, but not the Finder (a Cocoa thing?). Also, curiously enough, it didn't work for Control-Click, only right click on my Kensington Mouse. This is why I didn't post this as a hint: it is possibly just a Kensington thing.
So can anyone also confirm if this works with Apple mice, if it works on Tiger (I'm running Leopard), and maybe figure out the full scope of the feature (bug?). |

How strange! I am using a wired Mighty Mouse and I get the same results as you, including the Finder and the keyboard results. I am running Leopard.

I did some more testing. It seems it works from Safari to Mail and from Mail to Safari, but oddly enough, right-clicking from Safari to iTunes does nothing; it doesn't even select the iTunes window. It also works from Finder to Safari the same as from iTunes to Safari. Except for the weird Safari to iTunes behavior, it seems that right-clicking, but not control-clicking, in a Cocoa app (iTunes is Carbon, right?) from another app brings up a menu without switching while right clicking in a Carbon app switches apps and shows a menu.

Huh ... I also got the same results with on my G4 Powerbook running 10.4.11 using a wireless bluetooth mouse (Targus brand, if it matters).

So it's not exclusive to Leopard. I will probably post a hint and see if that brings out any other nuances. Something along the lines of "you can right-click, but not control-click, in Cocoa programs when whey are not selected and they will not switch but still present a menu."
