Sticking to the thread's title, let me introduce you Absolute TOP 2007 (Best games of 2007 as a result of poll on one of the popular Russian video-games Internet-portal).

There are several nominations. I would name just some of them.

1) Best game of the year: 1. The Witcher 2. Bioshock 3. Half-Life 2: the orange box
2) Best action game: 1. Bioshock 2. Half-Life 2: the orange box 3. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
3) Best RTS: 1. Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars 2. World in Conflict 3. Supreme Commander
4) Best racing game: 1. Test Drive Unlimited 2. Colin McRae: DiRT 3. Need for Speed ProStreet
5) Best sports game: 1. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 2. FIFA 08 3. FIFA Manager 08

Full results: http://top.ag.ru/2007/

Any comments?

As I am a little bit "remaining behind gamer" I want to try some of the best games: Bioshock, Test Derive Unlimited, PES 2008 and FIFA Manager 08.

hmm id have to disagree with that, i didnt hear that much about witcher, I'll have to look it up. I would defiantly say bioshock was in contention, but after buying a ps3 (yaay ) and playing call of duty, it blew me away, even more so than bioshock and the orange box. As far as racing games go, i though need for speed was aweful, but i did like the looks of forza for the 360, but i did like diRT as well. As far as sports games go i cant really disagree because for most people the new learning curve introduced in fifa by the new ball physics was too much, and pro evo is a lot easier to get to grips with.

I do have 1 complaint.... crysis isnt on that list

Ok, here is detailed rating of Crysis for you (nomination - rank):
1) Best game of the year: 5
2) Best action game: 4
3) Best multiplayer game of the year: 5
4) Best gaming plot of the year: 7
5) Best visual: 1
6) Best sound: 5
7) Unjustified expectations: 5

Not too bad, but far from the best... Let me remind you that this are results of gamers' poll.

Can you say something about Test Drive Unlimited? Did you play it?

This weekend I've bought one of the "best games of 2007" according to the list above.
Test Drive Unlimited . Well, guys, I really enjoyed it! Excellent graphics, beautiful cars, interesting plot, amazing and the biggest landscape I ever seen in video games (Island Ohao). I had some problems with driving control. It takes time to get used to it. Another thing is that I play it on Laptop. I think laptop is not very good for such games.
I really recommend you to get this game if you like racing genre! I have played NFS Pro Street. There is only one thing in which NFS doesn't yield to TDU - graphics. TDU is the best racing game of 2007, it is true.

Do you mean joystick? Or it is similar to console joypad?
I thought that perfect thing to play racing games with is steering wheel...
By the way they recommend to play TDU with steering wheel because it is hard to control the car with keypad. I agree. It is really hard but possible to get used to. Maybe I'm going to borrow my friend's steering wheel for it..

steering wheels are really good for some games, an alternative (for pc's anyway) would be the sidewinder joypad, which has motion sensors. It's a lot better than say the ps3 motion sensors as it actually works!

Watch the review in hd to get a small idea of how good it is (its been scaled down of course) also take the review with a pinch of salt, other places like 1up give if a much better rating

Sounds interesting. I think I'll buy it then! My Sony VAIO may not be the fastest machine ever, but I hope it will run with average video options

I have the same thoughts about my Toshiba laptop. I have uncertainty about how it would run Bioshock.. I've seen system requirements of this game. Looks rather high..

The specs, I think, are pretty low... Taking into account that Bioshock works pretty slow. I haven't completed the game yet. There was some point in the game when I grew tired of it. Even Gears of War (which is rather monotonous) was a better game to play

Both

I meant that if BoShock works slow sometimes, Crysis will be an absolute resource hog!!
