Rumored Mac pro updates at macworld

http://news.worldofapple.com/archive...2-at-macworld/
The specs include:
Quote:
Mac Pros will see an update to 45nm quad-core Penryn processors, clocking up to 3.2GHz and include NVIDIA’s new Quadro FX.
A Blu-Ray drive will also reportedly be an option.

It all seems likly but i dont get the last bit about blu ray drives. It says

Quote:
Blu-ray plaback will reportedly not be included due to a conflict between Apple and AACS LA.

Then whats the point of having a blu-ray drive? Obiously this is a rumor, so nothing can be confirmed, but macworld rumors are normally accurate. But if that were true, surely it someone would create a hack that would allow blu-ray playback. Or is the lack of playback due to hardware being removed from the drive?

Also it says that 10.5.2 will come out at macworld, thats a bit soon isnt it? We only just had 10.5.1

This is JUST what I have been waiting and pining for. I've been saving my money for it. Part of me is hoping that one of the offerings will be a half-height.

Data-only. In other words, you get the space for your own media, but not to watch professionally created titles. However, if Apple tweaks their AAC LA requirements, the same drive could play the titles without any problems.

They have probably had fixes since the initial introduction, but no time to properly implement and test them. Many of the bugs I have been reporting would take an hour or two to correct. Also, if you will be purchasing the new Penryn Pros, you will need the update to run with the new chip properly.

Well, good news!
A better machine for gaming or virtualization, such as Parallels.
Personally, I'll be saving money and waiting whtn Parallels will improve their 3d support up to DX9. I don't think that VMware will outrun them here - more likely, they will make it both at a time
