old iBook ...old battery: resetting PMU help
iBook 933mHz, the battery lasts for about 40 minutes and when it's plugged to the AC adaptor it stops charging at 98%....shall I reset the PMU?
Could you possibly advise me if this is the right procedure (according to Apple)? •If the computer is on, turn it off. •Reset the power manager by simultaneously pressing and then releasing •Shift-Control-Option-Power on the keyboard. Do not press the fn (Function) key while using this combination of keystrokes. •Wait 5 seconds. •Press the Power button to restart the iBook computer. |

Yes, this is correct. Resetting the PMU is fine, and won't hurt.
I have an iBook G3 900Mhz that's 4 years' old or so, and it probably needs a new battery. It may be that yours is also coming to the end of its natural life. Bear in mind that you'll need to reset the date and time after resetting the PMU. |
