Please give us details. Asking questions and then responding with no details will NOT allow us to answer those questions. Tell us what you are trying to do, in detail, using lots of words, then throw in more and more detail. Write small novels if you want to--the space is free. But there's no way that we can help with responses like the above, there's no information from which we can work.

Personally, I prefer to use "MacPAR deLuxe" for RAR packages, including those without PAR files.

Just personal preference, or do you actually think it performs faster? It's just struck me that I have both and so, if macpar performs the same or faster, I might as well change my file associations.

I use MacPAR simply because it supports both RAR and PAR packages.

The Unarchiver is probably the best all-around solution, as it will open pretty much any archive format under the sun.

Expander tends to hang up on multi-file RAR archives and ignores/doesn't-know-what-to-do-with PAR files. The only way out is to force quit.

I came across an odd RAR (I think it was from some abandoned sourceforge project or something) that didn't work with the 'official' RAR or The Unarchiver (my personal favorite unarchiving app), but worked correctly with Expander.

Anyway, I recommend The Unarchiver, as it can open up rar, gzip, bzip, 7z, zip, tar, lha, pax, and even some Stuffit 'sit' files.
