Stop MacBook going to sleep when lid is closed
Is there any way to make my MacBook stay away when I close the lid? Maybe just turn off the screen but not actually go to sleep?

No. But you can wake it up again with an external keyboard.

And a mouse, but it will go back to sleep in about 5 seconds.
If you have a Apple DVI to Video Adapter. You can plug this in and closed the lid. (not attached the other end) Then wake with mouse or keyboard. This time it will stay awake.

What, only a Thank you for the option you like..
It's scary to think how unintentionally impolite one can be, when posting. I hope I have never done that.. Thanks, everyone who has ever helped me and I did not say Thank You..

Yes sorry, I guess that was a bit thoughtless. Didn't mean to impolite. Thanks to everyone else who made suggestions

Just fyi, the reason the Macbook is set to sleep when you close the lid is because the computer has vents in the keyboard. With the lid closed, it loses this ventilation and can get very hot.
Or so I have been told. |
