Sharing from a Windows PC
So here is my setup. I have a Windows PC that has a 320gb sata drive that I use as a share for my entire home network.
I just bought a Mac this weekend and I am accessing that share by going into to Finder > Network > Workgroup > My Share. This works great and it mounts to the desktop to the point that I can see everything on that share. The only issue I seem to be running into is when I try to add my music into iTunes from that share iTunes starts copying all the music over to the mac rather than just accessing from the share. What needs to be done to fix this? Thanks for any help |

I believe there's a preference in iTunes as to whether or not it keeps your music files "organized", by which it means "copy them to a folder that it manages". If you disable that, iTunes will simply maintain pointers to the files.

There was actually an option that said "Copy items when adding to library" and I totally glossed over it, but I unchecked the "Keep my iTunes folder organized" box too just to be safe. Thanks for the help!
