any more possible ideas please?
I am using a western digital external HD via usb...I also have another one connected. I am using mac mini osx tiger, everything right up todate. Any suggestions? Cheers |

~54 error solution in case noones found it
Seems that you may have locked files.
Go through files 5000 at a time and unlock them. Takes a little time and you see a lot of beach balls, but managed 20000 in about 20 mins on a Mac Mini. http://discussions.apple.com/thread....sageID=5326376 |

by locked do you mean botched permissions?
Running repair permissions might fix the issue if that is the case |
