Unlocked iPhone
Our local Albuquerque newspaper had an article: "Teen Takes a Bite Out of Apple," which talks about a New Jersey, USA teen who unlocked an iPhone.
The article shows his web blog: http://iphonejtag.blogspot.com/ And, here is a link to url which talks about the associated press reporter's article. http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs....SS01/708250314 I'm sure many have come across this before me, but if anyone is interested... |

Yes, I have been following these events quite closely, particularly the hackintosh site team. They will get there in the end, I am sure.
Interestingly, 8Gb iPhones are selling like wildfire here in Thailand. Get the price: USD$1,000, or 34,000 Baht in local terms. That is a lot of cash for a web-browsing iPod!

Southeast Asia has the iPhone available before Europe? I hadn't thought much about the iPhone, as it's over priced for my needs, but I think it's curious about the socio-economic side of things that Europe would be receiving it later. I wonder if it has to do with the exclusive contracting with a service provider, or some other thing among the many about which I'm woefully ignorant.

I suspect that Europe has the iPhone unofficially as well. Remember that the iPhones selling in Thailand are unofficial. Europe will have officially sanctioned iPhones before Asia, from the looks of it.

I have to say that after reading Eldar Murtazin's iPhone review at www.mobile-review.com, I have definitely decided to wait a revision, or two, before getting one, even when they get here officially.
He points out several issues that would bug me silly. No text selection, for instance. Very odd.

This blog at cnet gives an interesting take on Apple's stance on the hacking attempts. The remark regarding the fact that it was AT&T lawyers after the hackers, not Apple's lawyers, does make you think about it, eh?
