[I have moved your questions to a new thread. They were not related to the thread that you had originally posted into.]

A reg PC? Windows is not regular, but I'm going to assume that you really mean a Windows PC.

No, you do not particularly need virus protection for your Mac, unless you are excessively polite and use it just because you don't want to pass viruses along to other computers that can be infected (in other words, to Windows computers). However, even that can be done by just using basic intelligence and not passing along e-mails with suspicious files that don't run on your computer, and turning on some basic macro virus protections in Microsoft Office (if you use that on your Mac).

I have no idea what a search and destroy program is.

The download site for MSN Messenger (which is now called Microsoft Messenger) is here: http://www.microsoft.com/mac/default...d=msnmessenger

The download site for Yahoo! Messenger is here: http://messenger.yahoo.com/mac.php

Both of these could have been easily found by you within seconds using a search engine such as Google.

I'm sorry, but it's very difficult to understand what you are asking. Please try to rephrase that, using a lot of words. Perhaps ask for help with phrasing the question from someone who knows English well.

I'm guessing you're a young fella and that you're posting from a mobile device. Far better to post from your computer with a proper keyboard

You don't need antivirus or antispyware software for OS X. However, I keep ClamXAV installed just in case. This is an open source antivirus program that's been ported to OS X. It works pretty well.

http://www.clamxav.com/

Bear in mind that it's not designed to do full system scans, which is kinda pointless for OS X. Instead it's best used to scan your Documents folder. Bear in mind too that it will uncover Windows viruses as well as any for OS X or even Linux/Unix. If it finds a virus the chances are it'll be a Windows virus, especially if it's attached to a MS Office file.

As for malware, you can use OSXrkhunter (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/mo...&mode=feedback), another open source program that's been ported to OS X. However, it's a fairly technical program and every indication is that you're a beginner. Give it a try and treat it as part of your education. It's got to be said that OSXrkhunter is really designed for server malware, rather than desktop.

Hmmm... I've run this through a few semantic analysing computers and I think what you're asking is, "I have a OS 9 disc, but my computer has OS X installed. Is there any need for OS 9 to be installed?"

If that is your question then, no, there's no need for OS 9 to be installed, unless you're a Mac old-hand who wants to run really old software that was never ported to OS X. Every indication is that you weren't born when OS 9 was in use.

Rodney... your post arn't very clear, so apologies if my answer isnt correct.

To start off there are 2 versions of the Apple Operating System for the G3 iMac, OS9 (very old and discontinued) and OSX (new and upto date) The apps you want to run will depend on what version of Mac OS you are running. 10.1 was a very early version of OSX... it might be worth upgrading to Tiger to ensure all the best and current apps will work for you..

As for Messenger.... I presume you mean MSN Messenger.. you can download it here...
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/default...d=msnmessenger
on the right hand side their are various versions depending on the version of MacOS you are running.

what speed processor does your iMac have?

Probably Mhz, if it's a G3.
