Shapeshifter - Inconsistent
I've been browsing around here for awhile and I just want to say you guys are great. I really hate to start off my first post with a problem, but this is just driving me crazy!
I recently downloaded the latest system update (the one with iTunes 7.3.1). After the reboot, I found that my Shapeshifter had become completely messed up. The theme I'm using would appear in some places, yet not for others. The biggest problem is that Finder itself is one of those places where it doesn't appear, meaning all of the OS X windows remain Aqua... which kind of defeats the purpose of using Shapeshifter. It does appear in most other applications, even small one such as Preview and Grab. In fact the only other program not to change themes is Firefox, which I'm not as concerned with. Here is a screenshot to show what I mean: Here's Shapeshifter with my current theme Blueprint 2. It works perfectly with any other application, such as Grab. ![]() ... But as soon as I click the background and jump to Finder... ![]() The menu, as well as all subsequent Finder windows remain Aqua. ============= I haven't touched anything at all, after the update it just became like this. Is it perhaps because I kept Shapeshifter on during the update? I didn't think it was a big problem since I've had Shapeshifter for quite a while now and survived through multiple system updates (including the notorious 10.4.10 which was problematic for many other APE users) while Shapeshifter was on. I've scoured the Internet for solutions to no avail. I even went as far as to completely reinstalling both SS and APE, as well as trashing anything that they might have left behind and rebooting every step of the way. Finder simply won't change! I've now resorted to using Aqua again... but it's like putting on an uncomfortable old shirt you thought you'd gotten rid of forever. If you guys can help in any way (short of telling me to delete system32), please reply. If reinstalling Tiger will work, I'll do it (since it's high time I did anyways). Thanks for reading my impolite first introduction to the forum. Last edited by Eiverandom; 07-16-2007 at 10:41 AM. |

Thanks for the quick reply, but what exactly am I looking for in that blog? If it's the beta, it's what I'm already using. But just to be sure I downloaded the versions they had on the thread (all 3 I could find the links to), but none of them solved my problem. Also, browsing through the rest of the blogs didn't yield any solutions either. What's bugging me is that the update which messed my Shapeshifter isn't even a major one. Just a tiny Quicktime and iTunes fix. I'm sure it's not a problem with Shapeshifter itself, because it had been working perfectly fine with the latest version for a while now. Might there be a GUI preference I could reset? |
