My suggestion would be to just use Adium. It's a 3rd party AIM client that works a lot better for me than iChat or AIM (more preferences, faster, away messages and info works, blah blah blah). Try it out and see if you like it, you can download it off versiontracker.com, search 'adium'

Or Proteus. $10 shareware, but it lets you use more than one chat client (it supports AIM, ICQ, Jabber, Yahoo!, MSN etc.). And you can have multiple accounts per service, so for example, if you don't want people to know your personal hotmail account, you can sign up for a new one and give them that address instead (use it only for online chat).
I know ICQ has a profile, as does AIM, so you should be able to use either of those services with Proteus, and keep your original AIM username. Check on http://www.indigofield.com/ for the latest version. |

You have to sign on to AIM to make your profile. Click on AIM in the menu bar and scroll down to "edit profile"
I don't understand what you are trying to say here? Do you mean that you minimize the message window to the dock, and if you are talking to more than one person and have all the message windows minimized you don't know which one is talking to you? hmmm...not sure about that one, I just keep my message windows open. Now I see what you mean. With Aim, it tells you which one just sent a message, with ichat it doesn't. Maybe that will be a added on in the next update. |
