zip files

hi,

i have already posted this but i think i put it in the wrong place. i have got some zip files i tryed to open through expander, i drag them into this but the files did not open. im not sure what i am doing wrong, i dont really understand zip files except that they are compressed files. do, macs only use certain zips. how do i open the zip? Running on a g4 osx 10.9 THANKYOU.

Macs have no problems expanding zip files, it may be that the zip file you have is corrupted, in which case try downloading it again if you can. Or you can try using Stuffit Expander (free): http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/index.html
