Cool Format for sharing a firewire drive b/w OSX and W2K

I'm considering buying an external firewire drive to store the files I share between my PC and Mac. I'm curious if anyone knows what filesystem I should format the drive with...FAT32? Would the Mac recognize that well enough? Any suggestions would be appreciated...
