Hi
My iBook is running Tiger 10.4 and works fine except recently it has stopped reading and burning audio CDs. It still plays DVDs and will open and run some software on DVD-ROM. So far have tried: 1. Re-installing iTunes 7.1 2. Re-installing Tiger Not sure what the next step is, anyone got some suggestions? Thanks, Boogs |

You might TRY a cleaning kit for the drive. That has been known to help. But I think the CD and DVD components use different lasers; it is possible that the one for your CD component has failed. In that case, you will probably need to replace the unit. I'm not absolutely sure how hard that is on an iBook, but I would imagine it is something you could do yourself with sufficient patience and care. Check our ifixit.com to see if they have instructions relevant to your model of iBook.
