1a) If you are copying the icon from another file/folder/app then Option Click the the icon and choose Get Info. Now click the icon--a faint blue shadow will appear around it--and click Command+C.

1b) If you are copying a pic, just copy the pic to the clipboard.

2) Then go to the recipient file/folder/app, choose Get Info, highlight the icon and Command+V.

If you want to change the icon of a file extension association then I can't help you. That feat is somewhat more difficult.

That should be ⌘-C and ⌘-V, not Control-C and Control-V.

About default icons

Thanks, but the problem is that I can't change back to default icons, because I can't find icon's directory. Do You know where are they hiding?

I corrected my post. Thanks.

How are you able to print the Command symbol? I get a question mark? I've changed from Western ISO, Western Mac and Unicode-8, but the result is the same.

Just get info on the item, highlight its icon, and hit command-x. That will put it back to its default icon.

On this sidebar, I can't speak for AHunter3, but I can say you can generate the Command symbol with "&#8984" followed by a semicolon, which should show up in most browsers as ⌘.
