Ok, so i must not be thinking very mac-like. I navigate to my project folder using Finder and would like to start creating files with the appropriate extensions so the correct app will launch when i double-click it. In windows i normally right-click on the place where i wanted the file and select it the appropriate file type. In OS X i've been reverting to the command prompt and the touch command. I then do an "open ." to launch the Finder and start my double-clicking. I can live with that, but it seems like there ought be a slicker way. How do proper mac-folk do this?

Re: How to create new files in Finder?
Why don't you just start with the application that you are going to use the new file in, and select new from the app. When you're done, save it whereever. There's never really a need for right click 'new-file-type' in windows even. You want a new text file, fire up TextEdit, or other text editor, and start typing. You can even save an empty file... Same goes for word documents and Office v.X/Word or AppleWorks, etc. Eric |
