Display blurry for different log in users.

I recently transfered the contents of my hard drive from a G4 1.25 sp to a G5 1.8 dp. using the restore function in the disk utility through a firewire cable.

The G5 boots up fine and all apps. etc. function as they should BUT the display is noticably blurry compared to the G4. I am using the same display for testing both machines.

If I create a test user on the G5 and log in under that name the display looks fine. I have check all the display settings, resolution, refresh rate, and they are the same.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

What exactly is the brand and model of monitor?

What is the monitor's native resolution?

What video card is in your PowerMac G5?

What system hacks are you running? (System hacks are programs that run all the time and change the behavior of your operating system in some way. Example are the Unsanity Haxies, Candy Bar, etc.)

What do you have set in System Preferences > Appearance > Font Smoothing Style? What about System Preferences > Appearance > Turn off text smoothing for font sizes ____ and smaller?

Monitor is an NEC fe990 crt. native resolution 1024x768 85hz. Video on G5 is Geforce 5200fx, no system hacks, font smoothing is off for 9pt and under. OS is 10.4.9.
Again, under a new test user on the G5 the monitor looks fine.

Thanks.

The actual native resolution claimed is # 1,792 x 1,344 maximum resolution at 68 Hz

Followup

I re-restored the hard drive on the G5 from the G4 using SuperDuper Cloner and every thing seems to be normal now. Nice sharp image. I have no idea what could have become corrupt, if that was the problem.
