Hi all,
My laptop rucksack rolled off the front passenger seat of my car this morning and, as luck would have it, the edge of my MacBook landed on the rock-solid carrying-handle on the top of the rucksack ![]() Despite the padded carrying case, the edge of the case has been dented, as shown below (sorry for the bad photo ... or rather lack of focus - downside of a fixed-focus cameraphone ):![]() Am I right in thinking it's extremely difficult to get access to the *inside* of that dent to push it out? Looking at this it certainly seems to be .... http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac/MacBook-Pro/Logic-Board Ah well .... everything is still working ... although I haven't tried the optical drive yet .... will see whether that still works .... All input is appreciated, Thanks, David |

While I certainly think it's possible to fix, if everything works, I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you try to fix it yourself I think you run a real risk of damaging something else, and I would assume that paying someone to fix it is expensive. I've dropped my powerbook (12" 1.5Ghz G4) a number of times and while it's dented in several places (much worse than your MPB) it still works wonderfully.
That said, if you fix it or get it fixed please reply back here with your experiences -- I'm sure it would be useful to a lot of people! |

Yeah you're probably right ... I'll just leave it as-is .... bit annoyed with myself but I can't change the past now

did you ever get it fixed? I have a dent in my mbp that makes me want to cry. Everything works great but the dent makes me sad.
