Unhappy powerbook G4 TI Airport + Linksys WRT54G v6

Hi all,

I'm struggling attempting to get connectivity working. I have a newer v6 (vxworks powered). Co-worker picked up a new mcbkpro and i'm checking out OS X. I have latest firmware on the linksys. I am using mixed mode B/G with WPA/WPA2 Personal-PSK. I have used the notebook @ the office (WPA2 Enterprise) and works fine but cannot get it to connect @ home unless I turn on SSID broadcast, Allow B Only and disable all security. Powerbook is 10.4.8 w all current updates. Any ideas?

Have you tried to connect the computer to the router with an ethernet cable?

You can also go to system preference/Network/Airport/ and select assist me and see if the computer can help you get an airport connection.

Are there any 3rd party wifi G PC-Cards that work w OS X? I've tried a few I have on hand NetGear WG511 (Intersil), Cisco AiroNet 350, and Compaq WL110. All show up on the menu bar; but I don't see a way to configure them in Network Preferences.

what type of encryption are you running? I am running tkip + aes on my linksys wrt54gl at home and my macs connect to it fine wirelessly.

same, wpa/wpa2 personal + AES. Does not seem to like this router. Found some posts on other forums w users having issues. I've tried every channel 1-11, only connects w B-Only and no encyption+SSID broadcast on.

If you can get your money back, return it and get a WRT-54GL.

that is very strange espeically since apple uses broadcom chips in their airport cards and linksys also uses broadcom hardware....

You should try calling linksys to see if they can help you.
