ichat will not start

Hi,

My brother wanted to try to connect with video from his new mac laptop to my windows machine. We tried to connect aim (latest version) with ichat on video and failed. It is supposed to work, but we got the error that it wasn't possible to connect.

Then I tried with my wife's ibook, using ichat, and indeed I could see him via his video. Of course we don't have a webcam that works for the mac, so it was only one-way video. But now I am trying again to connect my windows machine via aim to the ichat on my wife's laptop, and ichat won't start. It bounces a couple of times, and we see at least some of the time a window flash by on the screen, opening and closing in a flash. Any ideas why ichat won't start?

I have already searched via google, and based on one post I saw, I have deleted all the /user/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iChat.xxx.plist files, and rebooted the laptop several times. Still no go.

If you create a brand new user on your wife's iBook, does iChat launch for that new user?
