Try the HTTPMail Plugin: http://www.automagic-software.com/products.php
Do note that you'll need an old Hotmail account for this to work. Most 'newer' ones, say only 2 or 3 years old, usually don't work. In which case you'll need to buy a Hotmail Plus account. Another option is to use Thunderbird: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/ which is basically the same thing as Mail, but free. You'll then need to install the WebMail extension: http://webmail.mozdev.org/ This enables you to access Yahoo, Hotmail, Lycos (Europe), MailDotCom, Gmail, Libero, and AOL domains. This is what I personally use. |

Forward Mail
A simpler method is to set hotmail to forward all your mail to a pop or imap account. Gmail integrates well with apple mail, so if you have a gmail account, you can simply forward all hotmail to that, and set up pop on the gmail account.

Not to hijack this thread, but how about yahoo! mail? Can that be integrated into Apple Mail?

Not that I'm aware of, you could go the same route as Lxmorj suggested and forward your Yahoo emails to one that has is POP enabled such as a gmail account. You might want to look at Mail Forward: http://www.sspi-software.com/mailfwd_macx.html though it's not free. Another program to try is Ymail.app: http://elidourado.wordpress.com/software/ymail/ "YMail.app is a status bar program that periodically logs in to Yahoo! Mail and notifies the user of new emails." It's fairly old and I think they're not updating it anymore. Final option is again what I suggested in my earlier post and I personally use, is to install Thunderbird coupled with the Webmail extension which does pretty much all the popular free web email providers. |

I use Yahoo Mail Plus, which allows you to use POP3/SMTP with your Yahoo Mail. It costs me US$19.99 a year. I think you get some other benefits, but I can't remember what they are. Extra web mail storage space, I think. Then just enter the info into your Apple Mail Accounts preferences, or use the Add Account wizard. Your incoming server will be pop.mail.yahoo.com, outgoing will be smtp.mail.yahoo.com and you need to enter your password for both the incoming and outgoing servers. EDIT: I've just discovered you can now do it for free. Just check out the Yahoo Mail help. Don't use SSL, use port 25 for outgoing mail and 110 for incoming (Mail should set this by default). MacFreePOPs is the one
I have used IzyMail and Mail Forward to get my Hotmail account's E-Mails forwarded to Mail on my Mac. Neither of them are free.
IzyMail This works without paying but has loads of IzyMail headers and footers all around your E-Mail it has forwarded. To stop all its headers and footers you need to pay US$10.95/year for one address plus a $5 setup fee. It gives you POP or IMAP access to Hotmail, Yahoo!, or MSN Mail Forward This has a free 30-day trail period, and $19.95 for full license (Mac OS X 10.1 or later). With this you can forward your AOL, Gmail, Hotmail, MSN, Netscape, Yahoo, and POP mail to any e-mail address. However, it doesn't work if you have the standard Hotmail account, you need the Hotmail Live account. The problem with me is that I get this page when I try to update to the Live account: Sorry, but it looks like you won't be able to participate in Windows Live Hotmail at this time. "This might be because: - Your account is with one of our partners and has additional features that Windows Live Hotmail doesn’t support yet - Windows Live Hotmail isn’t available in your area at this time - You have a parentally controlled account - Your Windows Live ID indicates you're under 13" Although on some forums people are saying some Standard accounts are working if they are roughly 3 years old or more over. Furthermore, you also need the Stuffit Expander to expand your .sit file that Mail Forward gives you to a .dmg file. Concerning Mail Forward, this post expains what I'm trying to say about Hotmail sometimes working and sometimes not when its E-Mails have tried to be forwarded, in this case someone's using Outlook Express. MacFreePOPs This is the program to use if you want your E-Mails forwarded to your Mail on your Mac without any charge and without any headers and footers added on. It supports all these domins. Also, it has a step by step guide that tells you how to set it up within Mail, its in Italian but the Pictures are all you need. Basically follow all the instuctions but replace "uomoragno@libero.it" with yourdomain@hotmail.com. I hope this is of some help! I've been trying to sort this issue out for months now, if I can help don't hesitate to ask! |
