Sounds like we are getting close. The last log that you posted, what was the condition under which the crash occurred, what were you doing? what did you have attached to the machine. Any and all details are appreciated.

From the looks of it, there does appear to be something going on with the Airport. The panic log has this to say.

Quote:
Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies):
com.apple.iokit.AppleAirPort2(405.1)@0x67e000

There are some other indications that the Airport is suspect in the system log.

Before proceeding, make sure you have the latest updates.

Since the machine is used, do you know if you have 3rd party RAM in the machine? If so, you may want to try and remove it and see if this clears up the problem.

You should try removing the Airport card and re-seating it to see if this fix the problems. Properly un-seated airport cards have been known to cause problems.

Here is an article from Apple that may help you further.

Before opening up the system, make sure you have the latest updates.

It's 512 built in ram, so that's eliminated..?
As for the airport card, where would I find out how to remove and refit it?
Cheers

Since you have told us that this is a used Mac, I'll give my usual warning:
-------
You should always erase the drive and install a fresh copy of OS X from the CD/DVD when you buy a used Mac. You have no idea what the previous owner did with the OS. It could be filled with malware due to maliciousness, or just due to incompetence.

You mention the "restore" CDs but not the Install DVD. Since you have Tiger (10.4) installed on that Mac, you should have received the Tiger Install DVD with it. If you didn't receive that DVD, that is a serious problem. Not only is this DVD an important troubleshooting tool, if you don't have it, it would seem that you don't have a legal licence to the copy of OS X that is installed on your Mac and thus you should purchase a copy of Tiger.

I removed the keyboard but all I could see was a metal plate, I didn't remove it as there was an image of a Ram chip on it. So I assume the airport is built-in... ?

Xserver G4 Sporatic Shutdowns

OK, I maybe a little late with this but my Xserver G4 1.33 began shutting itself down a sporadically a couple of weeks ago.

One message that consistently showed up in the logs was:
localhost kernal[0]:ApplePMU::PMU forced shutdown, cause = -xxx
where xxx was either 93, 122, or 127

I researched this error message on internet and came up with all sorts of problems and solutions such as Retrospect, bad drivers, SCSI cards, reset PMU, check logic board PRAM battery, bad RAM, etc.

I followed all of the suggestions:
1) disconnected all peripherals
2) disconnected SCSI devices
3) ran diagnostics in FireWire peripherial drives
4) reset the UPS
5) zapped the PRAM
6) reset the PMU
7) ran TechTool, DiskWarrior, Apple Hardware Diagnostics
8) replaced the PRAM battery
9) tested the RAM with Memtest for 8 hours (all the time I could afford)

Nothing. The server would still shut itself down randomly.

In the end, I replaced the power supply. BINGO.

As of the time of this message, the Xserver has been running for over 72 hours with no problems.
