> NO DO NOT POST THE ANSWER

I didn't think anyone would feel that strongly about it.

> its more fun to actually get the answer lol.

I'd rather not monopolize the riddle thread with mine. Let other people have their turn.

No.

Schneb, not the answer I was looking for, but it could be sort of correct, as long as the dog knew what a building was!!

I said that I'd post the answer after midnight. Here it is (in white anti-spoiler text):

The wife is on a ventilator. The husband prepared his breakfast "early" -- before the sun came up. When he left the house, he turned in the driveway and he could then see the lights inside his home through the windows as well as the house lights and street lamps for most of the block... and he saw them all go out when a blackout hit. No power = no ventilator. The wife is dead.

Just to kick things off again, here's an easy one:

Gilliam Bates wants to saturate the market with his unique software product. Although it costs $25 dollars to make, he decides to sell each copy of his software at $1 dollar and as a result becomes a millionaire.

How does he do it?

Does it require a monthly subscription?

Does it require recharges or packs?

Does it contain advertising for other companies?

Are the profits legitimate gain?

Does the product create another product that requires a license?

(as you can see, there are many ways sell low, but gain high)

Yes, but that's irrelevant.

is the support where they gain their money?

ie make a crappy product, sell it cheap and then sell support to make up for profit?

Is it due to costly upgrades?

I think you're over-thinking this one.

Was the total production cost for the software $25? That'd make the cost of the copies almost $zero...so that could result in one becoming a millionaire.

No, it costs him $25 dollars for each one.

> does it have anything to do with the developers name?

No. The name just popped out of my warped mind. It could as easily have been a joint venture between partners Thomas J. Kat and Gerald Maus.

Did he become a millionaire solely by selling this one piece of software? Or was it all in merchandising?

He became a millionaire through selling the software at $1 dollar per copy.

He made no money in any other manner.

$25 is the cost of making the initial piece of software, he didn't ever sell the original, he just sold copies at $1 which cost him nothing to make?
