iWork: Pages Default Print Format
Hi everybody,
I'm wondering if someone here can find an answer for this: Is there a way in Terminal to change the default Print Format for Pages application? The Pages default Print Format seems independent of the System Print Format pref. I'm a french canadian user but Pages don't make the difference and recognize me as a french from France user and automatically set the default print format to "A4" (even if in my System Print Preferences it's set to "Letter US"). This is not a very serious problem but I have to change it to "Letter US" every-time I have to print, this is becoming quite annoying. Pages is the only application who behavior like this. So, How can I set it to "Legal US" by default using Terminal? There must be a code line to set this out, no? Thanks for your precious help Last edited by NicleT; 12-16-2006 at 09:35 PM. |

Well, don't you all talk at the same time!
I understand that I have to create a whole new set of Templates for the Pages application package. For the knowledge of other french canadian users, here how to do the correction. Ctrl-clic on the Pages application and select "Show the package content". French Pages Templates are localized here: Pages/Contents/Resources/French.lproj/Templates In this last folder there is an ISO folder which contain all the international-non-U.S. french templates thus "A4", etc. templates. For example, in the English.lproj folder there are two folders: ISO ("A4", etc.) and Traditional ("Letter, Legal", etc.). So the best is to duplicate the Traditional folder from the "English.lproj/Templates" folder to the "French.lproj/Templates" first. Then, based on the ISO (french) folder, rename every files in the duplicated Traditional folder. Then, remove the TemplatesInfo.plist from the modified Template folder and put the TemplatesInfo.plist from the ISO folder instead. Finally, get rid of the ISO folder and rename the modified Traditional folder "ISO". Now when you open Pages, all the templates are titled in french and set to the good Print Format, even if the fake content is in english, it will change anyway. This is, for now, my solution. There must be some other ways but this one works. Last edited by NicleT; 12-17-2006 at 03:10 PM. Reason: add the TemplatesInfo.plist exchange thing |
