G4 won't boot

I have a G4 Aud/Dig and am having trouble booting.

I press the power button on the front of the MAC The button will light
for a second and fad out.

Could this be a motherboard failure?

Try resetting the PMU (power management unit) - look for instructions for your specific model on Apple's Support site.
