I tried. It made no difference whatsoever, not to the frequencey in kernel panics, not to the boot problems (dumps to open firmware or blank screen).

We are live. Fill in the information. If one of you want to register a domain. Or host it somewhere else: 3 files. One mysqltable.

I don't feel safe typing my serial number in... Is it really necessary?

Yes it is, because that is the only way to trace back what components are on the pc. I'm the only person that has access to the database. So from that point of view don't worry.

Same counts for the MAC of both ethernet and wireless.

Before anything is done with all the data. Everyone will be informed by the e-mail they filled in.

Great work on the form!

Getting there!!

Skinkie you're a legend - I was glad to get back today to see that the form has been created (with my ranting words nonetheless - you flatter me!)

Let's not let this slide guys - forget 50 people, we want 5000 people. Make these blue chip punks do something for us, because we invested in them. Trusting Apple to provide working goods is not too much to ask considering they're spending our money on fast cars and yachts (possibly!)

Don't ignore the form! Fill it in if you've found this thread!

I did go to visit the Apple store in London - what a waste of time. I accosted some chap who sent me to three different people, none of whom had a bloody clue. I was looking at this guys face as he was aimlessly wandering through the settings and diagnostics of my Laptop. What a time waster - the only thing he assured me of is we're going to have to go it alone, and recognition of this needs to come from higher than the high- streets selling Apple ware's.

We need to host that form on a designated web-page: anyone with some webspace knocking about who is involved in this debacle, it would be greatly appreciated if we could get it up, and give it a proper name. It needs to appear at the top of the google list when people are searching for this problem - hence I feel it needs a bit more of an introduction. If you want Skinkie, I'm happy to write something so people are immediately convinced they've come to the right spot, and feel compelled to fill in the form.

One more thing - apologies for my idiocy - is my Ethernet ID the same as my MAC address? Let me know and I'll make my submission!

Thanks guys, keep posting!

Thumbs up

I agree with Hyperknight,
awesome volunteer work of Skinkie to do the form to fill in!!!

Just some adjustment to what you already have done and it will be VERY good.

What about....
introduction what the webpage is all about
short background of the problems... and finally
goal of the webpage (what happens with the data)

The webpage would gain interest and hits by adding some data in the metatag too.

For instance...ibook, airport, blank screen, kernel panic, boot problems etc

Also, VERY nice job again of Skinkie trying to get contact with the lawyers
of the 7 november lawsuit against Apple and iBook G4

Mac = Ethernet ID

It is under your keyboard.

The legal people did not reply but I have phone numbers too, so tomorrow is monday and I'll make a call. Anyone with design skills. Take a look at the code and provide a nice CSS piece

Metatags are in, the document is valid xhtml now.

I can't see how AppleTalk would make a difference; for example, I completely reinstalled OS X on a clean hard disk and AirPort still failed without any updates having yet been applied; so at that time I can only assume AppleTalk must have been enabled as it is by default on new systems.

I have a powerbook G4 17" with the same problem.
I can confirm that it worked with 10.4.8 without problems until the latest Security Update and airport update.

After that I can not start the computer anymore. The only solution was to remove the airport driver. Same problem after a full reinstall of the software.

We need more PR in order to get an reaction from apple. We should open a petition at www.petitiononline.com and send it to the specific mac sites in order to have a little media buzz about the problem.
There is an email address from Apple where we are for sure going to get an response from a PR person: steve@apple.com
The mail is not going to be answered by Steve but by a staff member.

Ok I have an idea on what we can do but do not know how to do it.

Is it possible to use the driver from the KisMac application in order to use the airport driver provided there???

I agree, I also did a complete reinstall and the KP:s still appeared. But if someone would like to try...

This is interesting. Was there some kind of firmware update included in the last security or airport update?

I spoke to Kevin lawyer at Wilentz Goldman and Spitzer. The case will be filed on 19 January.

They will set up a website soon to get in touch with the users. He gave me the tip to go to the Apple site Corporate Securities and read the 10k report. He claims that here are 13 pages full of lawsuits with class actions against Apple about their products.

The expected settle time is two years...

I think this is the document.

The company has experience with the Apple Broken Monitors. I wish I had better news. I have informed him about our little quiz and send the url of this thread.
