Exactly what files are you trying to expand? Most people don't need Stuffit Expander any more, considering that .dmg and .zip are both handled natively by OS X.

Yes, I am constantly donwloading a variety of printer drivers and others for customer support, and the Unarchiver seems to work on most anything that I throw its way.

Win media player is dead software, use Flip4Mac, instead.

Ah, that explains it. Windows Media Player 9 for Mac is available in the ancient, barely-used-anymore formats of .hqx and .bin because it was posted in November of 2003, almost 3 years ago. As an old decrepit piece of software, good luck getting it to work on a new Intel Mac running Tiger.

What you really want, even though you don't know it yet, is NOT to run Windows Media Player for Mac. What you want is to install Flip4Mac, which allows you to play Windows Media files (.wma and .wmv) using Quicktime. It's far better and more compatible than that old Windows Media Player for Mac 9.

Microsoft page on Flip4Mac here: http://www.microsoft.com/mac/otherpr...d=windowsmedia

Download page on Microsoft's site for Flip4Mac here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...omponents.mspx

Note that Flip4Mac, as a modern app, is available as a .dmg. This type of file is natively supported in OS X, so you don't need Stuffit Expander or any other third party expander program.

I mean that you don't have to install any third party programs. Double-click on a .dmg file or a .zip file and OS X automatically does what it is supposed to do--for a .dmg it mounts the disk image as a virtual volume on your desktop, and for .zip it unzips.
