The Composer application which is part of the free Mozilla suite might be a good choice. It produces valid HTML code, which helps in making pages browser-agnostic. PageSpinner is a very capable editor and good learning tool.

web

can you use something like wordpress? no need to learn a ton of HTML to get started, you can be up and running in minutes and get some cool features, it will give you a framework to get rolling while you start learning your way around the whole web thing.. most hosts run everything required to have a wordpress site. check out their site at http://wordpress.org/ there are a ton of skins and plugins to make it do a ton of things (I know its kinda cheating...lol..)

goodluck
