extacting a Nero "Back It Up" .nba file
Hi
I have a Nero "Back It Up" .nba file, with .avi movies in it that I wish to extract on an Apple OSX machine. Since I can't actually use Nero to open the archive (Nero is a Windows only app), does anyone know of some little utility app for OSX (10.3.9 in my case) that will extract the files from this archive? I tried StuffIt, which will usually open just about anything, but got an error message (#17538) saying that the archive may contain damaged material. Which may be accurate, and my just mean that StuffIt is confused by the format. |

.nba are zip files. You can certainly rename it to *.ZIP and open with a zip utility. The filenames will all be in 8.3 format, though (which might not be a problem for you if you already know what to look for). The directory structure is preserved except the dos drive letter is prepended. (eg C\WINDOWS\LONGFIL~.TXT)
I was reading somewhere that the long filename, user, group etc etc is stored in a separate file. I don't know where that file ends up. Possibly within the archive itself.
