extacting a Nero "Back It Up" .nba file

Hi

I have a Nero "Back It Up" .nba file, with .avi movies in it that I wish to extract on an Apple OSX machine.

Since I can't actually use Nero to open the archive (Nero is a Windows only app), does anyone know of some little utility app for OSX (10.3.9 in my case) that will extract the files from this archive?

I tried StuffIt, which will usually open just about anything, but got an error message (#17538) saying that the archive may contain damaged material. Which may be accurate, and my just mean that StuffIt is confused by the format.

.nba are zip files. You can certainly rename it to *.ZIP and open with a zip utility. The filenames will all be in 8.3 format, though (which might not be a problem for you if you already know what to look for). The directory structure is preserved except the dos drive letter is prepended. (eg C\WINDOWS\LONGFIL~.TXT)

I was reading somewhere that the long filename, user, group etc etc is stored in a separate file. I don't know where that file ends up. Possibly within the archive itself.
