Need to export Powerpoint images
I requested images from someone for a book I am doing. I ultimately need to get these images into 300 DPI TIFF format which I was planning on doing in Photoshop. I was hoping they would send me a folder with 84 TIFF images in it, but instead they sent me a Powerpoint file with 84 slides. What is the best way of getting the images out of Powerpoint so that I can individually work on them in Photoshop?
Thanks Peter |

Do you have a copy of PowerPoint? It shouldn't be too tricky if you do, assuming the presentation isn't locked in some way. Maybe the more salient question is what format the sender imbeded the files in in the presentation. If he converted them to png or jpg files (frequently done for PowerPoint), you may have trouble getting the information removed from the files in the compression process back. I wonder if your best bet isn't asking the sender if he HAS the files in TIFF format and could send them to you in the manner you expected, although 84 TIFF files may be a pretty big folder, which may be why he thought PowerPoint was a more efficient means of sending them to you.

Oh god, powerpoint and word embedded images are the bane of a designer's existence! I don't know why people feel the need to put an image file into word to send it to you, but anyway...
You probably will have to ask for the original files, but often you can get a useable file out of PP or Word... Control-CLick the image and choose Format Picture, then choose the size tab, then click the reset button. This is to make the picture the size that it was when imported into PP (often people will size it down to fit on the page). Then just copy it, switch to Photoshop, create a new Image (Command-N) which will automatically be created at the size of the copied image, and paste! The DPI setting will be 72dpi, but you can change that to 300dpi, making sure that "Resample Image" is NOT checked. But ideally, educating clients is best

In Powerpoint you should be able to right-click a picture and "Save As Picture". Not sure about Word.
