PowerOutageBook 12"/ corrupt iTunes library file

Okay, first off I've got a PB 12". The battery is being recalled by Apple so as per instructions I've depleted the battery and removed it from my PB. I am running off of the AC power adapter only.

Today there was an unexpected power outage and, of course, my system went down unexpectedly. I was able to boot up later with no problems and everything seems just fine. Except: The iTunes library database file. iTunes was running when the system lost power.

When I launched iTunes after power came back, it gave me a message saying that the file had been damaged. The message also stated that iTunes would attempt to reconstruct the file. It then appended [damaged] to the end of the original file name and created a new iTunes library file.

My question: Is there anything that I could have done to repair this file? I've already deleted it, but for future reference I would like to know. I just assumed that it was corrupted and beyond repair.

What other files should I be wary of in this kind of sudden power outage situation?
