ok, i'm confused about imported iPhoto images.
in my user folder>pictures folder, there is an iPhoto library folder. some of the contents of the dated folders therein are actual jpgs of pix and some of the dated folders contain no jpgs or graphic files of any type. it seems that pix imported from my digicam are in the iPhoto library folder, and that manually imported pix from my hard drive are not in there. does it handle them like iTunes? does it leave manually imported pix from my hard drive where they were or does it put them in the iPhoto library? i don't want double copies on my hd, but i am afraid to delete the original files that i imported since i can't seem to find them in the iPhoto library. thanx gang! |

If your manually imported pics do not have any EXIF data, then they should be stored in folders related to their modification date.
So if the modification date is Feb 29, 2001 then they'd be stored in ~/Pictures/iPhoto Library/2001/02/29/ |

sorry, i'm not sure what EXIF stands for but it's a set of data stored in the file that contains information like aperature setting, f-stop, capture date, camera model, and a bunch of other data about the picture. most (if not all) modern digital cameras will store this information when they take a picture.
older camera's didn't store this info (I used an apple quicktake for a while), so the only date information available is the modification date. if you know when the picture was taken, you can use 'touch' in Terminal to set the modification date back to that time. use Code:
touch -t YYMMDDhhmm file HTH, jim |
