Ical wont start. other problems too. Please Help

Ok, so I bought a 15 in Macbook Pro for college, and its been working fine for the last month or so.

Then I added some songs iTunes and it started acting strange.
Programs would freeze up, and the only way to fix it is to take the battery out. So, i deleted the songs, and now iCal wont start up.
Itll go to day, but then just freeze and close.

Not only that put my computer momentarily freezes when Im doing normal tasks like saving a word doc. It may be a system error or something, like a bad index file or something.

In particular, be sure to try logging in as a different user to see if the problem exists there. (Create a new user via the Accounts preference panel if you only have the one user account so far.)

Also be sure to do "Repair Disk" (different from "Repair Disk Permissions"!) in Disk Utility when booted from the Install CD/DVD. I.e. you restart from the Install CD/DVD, then run the version of Disk Utility that is available from one of the menus there.
