printer output problems (deskjet 920c)

I have a deskjet 920c connected to my 600mhz imac, running os x 10.4.7.

When I print from Word the text output is not the right font, and the bottom of the font is missing. It also seems inconsistent in size from line to line. Text from any program exibits the same problem. The printer utility says the driver is rev 3.3. Anyone else experienced this printer behavior?
