App suggestion - slide out finder windows
Does anyone know of maybe a third-party app that will bring back the slide out finder windows from OS9? There's very little that I miss from OS9 (aside from more conservative use of screen real-estate!), but I thought that was a great way of keeping certain finder/folder windows open, but out of the way.

Are you talking about windowshading? If not, where are the windows sliding out from?
You can get windowshading using Windowshade X. Trevor

I don't remember what it was called, but in OS 9 you could drag windows to the edge of the desktop and they would "dock". Maybe they were even called dockable windows. It was cool trick, but I don't think you can do that in OS X.

Chabig, that's it!
mmm, the DragonDrop is a nice try, but not really there for me. Great idea for having kind of spring-loaded drop boxes, but for standard finder windows that you tend to have open all the time, and just want the to slide away when not it use...it's not there yet. I'd like them to slide to the side as well, so as not to fight for space with the dock! |
