Can't get keypad to work

I have tried everything, but I can't get my number pad to work on my keyboard.
It use to work and one day just stopped.
I thought that it was the keyboard, so I bought a new one, and still nothing. I can't figure it out.

I have even upgraded to Tiger to see if that would help in case my computer was a little buggy. Still nothing. I have to have a preference or something somewhere that I just can't locate that I need to change. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really need help!!!

It sounds really dumb, but perhaps your numlock button is either broken or simply turning the light on but not the function? have you tried another brand of keyboard, or that one in another computer?

Hold down the Numpad 4. What happens? If the pointer starts moving, just go to System Prefs>Universal Access>Mouse>[uncheck mouse keys]

This usually happens when you press the option keys too much. It activates that feature.

Exactly what model and brand of keyboard (both the old one and the new one you bought)? Exactly what Mac are you using? Using what version of OS X? Does the problem continue when you create a brand new user on your computer?

ThreeDee's suggestion is a very good one--that would explain everything about what you are seeing, based on what you've told us so far.

Thank you ThreeDee it was my mouse keys. I can't figure out how they were checked on. Oh well thanks again. I guess I have a spare keyboard now.
