Last night thunder boomers rolled through. Was able to catch one shot of the lightning. Trying it out as the desktop. Not too bad for a first try, but I don't think I'll keep it long.

You've got some great images on your site. Thanks for sharing.

No prob. Thanks for the compliment.

I've had itoilet9 since around 2002. It's been in use for a while. (As my one of many internet aliases, that is.)

(This looks better at 1920x1200, I promise.)

I like to keep my desktop free of clutter, unless I'm working on a project. Then, both my desktops look like a tornado hit. I don't normally even see the Dock. The shot is from our last trip to Paris (Rue Saint-Louis en l'Ile).

I recently purchased a Dell 2408WPF TFT monitor after getting years of service from my 22" LaCie CRT. I'm still adjusting to the changes: much brighter, more contrast and sharper. I'm finding that everything I've posted on the web has been over sharpened owing to a fuzzy screen. I spent days with the Dell getting the colour to my liking – far too red, for instance – unlike my mate who was able to simply plug in his Apple Cinema Display and get good colour. I went for the £200 savings...

Nice capture. What kit were you using?

Thanks. A Canon IXUS 70. I think it's a PowerShot SD1000 over there.

Gotta love those Canons!

You've got a good eye. It's the photog's vision, not the technology which captures a good image.

Thanks again. I tend to lean on Photoshop a bit more than I should...

Canons are awesome cameras. I once owned a PowerShot SD850 IS. Greatest camera I have ever owned, let me tell you.

Last night we had a very nice sunset. Tonight's was even more cool, but I was out and didn't have my camera gear. So here's my desktop, using a photo from last night.

I'm going to have to unplug. Thunder boomers rolling through. Perhaps I can catch another photo of lightning!

Here we are just 80 miles away, and we haven't been getting your storms, John. Send 'em over!

Some of these are truly beautiful. I'm a minimalist, however, because I use VNC a lot and don't want to transmit a complex desktop. Mine is just a solid color with last month, this month and next month's calendars on it. The other extreme.

You know VNC will not always render a complex desktop. In fact I have my remote desktop setting so it just makes it a black background, even though there is a very pretty lady on my desktop.

tommaso, that's a great photo. I'm guessing you snapped it. Was it somewhere local to you?

It's Chaco.
No, it's not my photo, but I forget where I got it... maybe a National Geographic pic of the day or something...
Not only is it pretty cool, but it's also not too distracting from the other stuff on the desktop.

Pretty minimalist, but you'll probably know where I got it:

Minimal is nice. I even took the colour out of this shot in the British Museum, London.

No I'm not sure. Where did you get it from? It looks like some kind of lattice structure.

It was a pattern used in System 7.

Now I feel old.

This is right up my alley (figuratively speaking of course, I'm really around the bend).

Where did you stash the icon for your hard drive?

BTW, nice photo, very crisp, nice tonal range.
