Hmmm, which is the greater influence?

Grateful Dead or Pirates of the Caribbean?

Well, the picture I thought was cool, and I am not into the Grateful Dead, or jam bands in general. So, I would say that it is the latter, pirates!

Thank you for knowing who the Grateful Dead were! Lately I get blank stares from folks when I mention bands from my misspent youth.

Great picture BTW.

I was imaging searching for skulls and crossbones and found that on interfacelift.com. I got the icons there as well. I love that site!

I agree it is a very cool picture, but I failed to get the dead head reference off the bat, but I think you are on to something with that idea.

Ok, so now you need a nice set of icons to match your desktop masterpiece. Please work on creating the icons and have them ready for the halloween release.

Yea, that's cool too but we need the entire thriller collection from Applications, Document Folder to text edit and iphoto icons. BTW, the cd icon isn't scary enough.

Anyway, its all in good fun. Thanks for sharing.

Now you've got me wondering, if I were to google for how to create icons, whether I'd be able to create something like Ron has mentioned. It's not something I've considered before.

Whoa! I'd need sunglasses to look at my computer with that image as the desktop! Talk about energetic!

It's way cool.

I'l bite. First one is my 20" display, second one is my macbook pro's display. Usually it sits on my desk in a dual screen config.

All my desktops of choice are either really energetic, or really dark.

I make 'em as well. That last one with the red/blue swirl? Made it from scratch in photoshop.

I'm trying to figure out how to use Blender so I can *really* push the envelope in these things.

saint.duo, hard drives named after Halo and manga characters, and god of death, desktop picture of Cortana? You, Anti and kel101 would probably get along great!

Anti, good to hear that you're the one creating those desktop backgrounds. Very creative. I really like seeing them, and would appreciate your continued posting. My dad had made his living as an artist, but had passed on before computer graphics hit its stride. He would have loved it.

I used to make customer demotivators for our work computers in the help desk, they were typically about the help desk or the user base, and pretty funny. I also once changed everyone's desktop to Dunder Mifflin as a prank once.

Okay, as an out of touch old fart, I had to google customer demotivators and Dunder Mifflin. Found despair.com and it kept me laughing viewing all their demotivator products. Dunder Mifflin, and The Office, seem to be the TV versions of Dilbert, one of my heroes. Too funny.

There is a site where you can create your own custom demotivator and I made some very funny "help desk" type ones.

Ha! Yeah. I somewhat theme my computers. My old macbook was "cortana" with a purple cortana desktop, custom icons, and the same purple terminal window in this shot. When I got my macbook pro I just changed a few things.

My server is 2401 Penitent Tangent with a red theme. Most of my portable drives are named Leela, Durandal, Tycho, etc. I'm an old bungie fan.

Not so sure if I should post this here, but I slap my home-made desktops here.

I have a new one in the works, so I'll probably post a screencap once I get it somewhat done.

No sunglasses needed! http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/1861/picture3ym7.png

I got a kick out of your devianArt username. It was one of the possibilities we'd thought about a couple years ago when creating spoofs of iPod and all the i-somethings which it had spawned. We were going to create images of iToilet, iPlunger, iHammer, iCane, i-etc. Real life intruded and time was never put aside for that particular frivolous endeavor.

You've got some great images on your site. Thanks for sharing.
