I got another one I make lots of use of, I'll post in a sec. Here: http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/9427/picture1rs3.png Guess I should say this...in the first one, take note of the dock.

Outstanding picture, but what about the dock should I have noticed? I did notice the iPod named Azrael. From the comic book character, or the Biblical? |

Okay, I'll explain some things. Azrael was the name of my iTouch when I had it, so I renamed my 5G to Azrael. This is named after one of the mixes of "Darkangel" by VNV Nation. WhiteLightGenerator is named after the song performed by Ladytron on the album Witching Hour. My computer is named Velocifero, after Ladytron's upcoming album. And the dock: I swapped out the hazy glass one for a black glass dock. It's not very noticeable, but I like it compared to the bright dock that is the default.

Azrael, the name and what it infers, crosses many generations and cultures. I see that I'm again, behind the times. Things evolve.
I see now what you mean about the dock. Not yet having upgraded to Leopard, I didn't notice right off. I was reading in Macworld, that v 10.5.2 gives much more optionality to the dock, for example, going back to hierarchical list view rather than stacks. Your choices of desktop background are very energetic. Given what I've read from your posts, that's very apt.

10.5.2 gives you the option to turn off those annoying stacks that shows the enclosed icons, yes. That's insanely useful. It also gives you the ability to turn off menubar transparency, which I did try for a bit, but I didn't care for the way it looked. (I liked the glossy menu bar of Tiger, though)
And about Azrael, I can see where you come from, as VNV isn't really well known. I would have been extremely surprised if someone had guessed that's where it's from. So you aren't behind the times. ![]() I'm never satisfied as far as backgrounds are concerned, I switch often. ^_^ Also, I just noticed my dock's getting a bit out of control. I should prune it.

I had been waiting for more color, but dust on the horizon here in the southwest acted as a filter. This is the true color, contrast enhanced with a Curves adjustment layer set to Luminosity mode, rather than Normal mode, so that the hues wouldn't change.
Unsharp mask layer's mode set at Darken rather than Normal, again to avoid changing the hues. Quite nice evening, probably in the high 50s F/mid 14s C. My rods and cones don't pick up much after the sun goes down.

Ha ha ha. Love the Reason 4 torrent. I'm sure you are just downloading $400 Reason 4 for backup purposes in case you lose your actual CD

So I am totally new to Mac but my wife and I decided to make the switch. We gave away our PCs/Laptops and got an imac, macbookpro, macbook and a mac air (along with 2 iphones). We are now a mac household!
Here is the desktop of the imac which I am using now..... Hi by the way! http://gallery.mac.com/bryanwa#100112

idsamdg, you're fulla beans!
Nice photo. There are some great images in your gallery. I especially liked the Gortin Lake photos. Photography a hobby of yours I'm guessing? And, is the bean photo one you'd snapped? |

Aww thanks man! I forgot people could look at the rest of the pictures! The coffee beans is not mine. The Gortin lakes are just behind my parents house. Photography wasn't a hobby of mine until a few weeks ago when I bought a proper camera and decided to start taking lots more pics - all the photos on my gallery were taken before that - so hopefully I get better. Thanks for your post!

Always happy to see someone catch the photography bug.
Here are two links, one for The Photography Forum: http://thephotoforum.com/forum/index.php And one for the online site for two UK sister magazines, Digital Photo and Practical Photography. I like these two magazines quite a bit. http://www.photoanswers.co.uk/ |

I have two monitors. One is set to picts of the Oregon Coast. You can view them on About This Particular Mac Desktop Pictures. See the set Oregon Coast January 2004
On the second monitor I use the National Geographic Photo of the Day. I found an Automator action that downloads the picture and places it in my desktop photos folder. I documented it here with the workflow to download and edit for your setup. |
