I'm new to the board, and just curious to know what the Macosxhints community might think of Hamachi?
I don't work too well in Terminal, but did manage to get the command line tool to start up and have created a couple networks. I'm able to control machines via Apple Remote Desktop (and VNC) as well. I've heard they are "just about ready" to release a full GUI app, which should ease things, but as it is I'm very impressed by it. |

I'd rather not use Terminal if I don't have to, so for ease of use I use MS' remote Desktop to connect to my WinXP machine, which I use as a data server, to access Hamachi. It's 4 months since your post and no Mac GUI for Hamachi. Perhaps any day now.
Does anyone use it? If you don't know what it is... ...think of using PPtP to create a virtual LAN between you and whomever you allow to access your Hamachi network (assuming they supply the correct network name and password to connect. Even print sharing works seamlessly through it. |

You should carefully look into the security concept behind it, some discussion here:
http://www.macosxhints.com/article.p...60123190002370 suggesting to look at [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Hamachi [2] http://www.schneier.com/crypto-gram-9902.html#snakeoil To evaluate the credibility of the quoted third parties, having a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Schneier and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Gibson might be a good starting point.
